2022 ESEF taxonomy update

Last updated: September 12th, 2023

Thank you for choosing our ESEF solution! Along with it, you have also opted for our automatic taxonomy update and re-mapping service. We dedicate our time to carefully review taxonomy changes and implement them on your behalf. Rest assured, our knowledge of both taxonomies and best practices is constantly updated.

When you access the "General data ESEF" sheet, you'll notice that the "Taxonomy" field displays "ESEF." This means that you will always receive the most recent ESEF taxonomy, verified by us. If you require a specific version, you can easily select it from the dropdown menu. However, in most cases, you won't need to do so.

Here is an extract of the main changes in the 2022 ESEF taxonomy version:

  • IFRS9Member has been added (we had the same syntax for the extension currently in use so the only difference you may notice will be the change from extension to standard element)
  • DisclosureOfAccountingPoliciesMember has been added
  • Three new disclosures have been added:
    • ifrs-full:ExplanationOfMeasurementBasesForFinancialInstrumentsUsedInPreparingFinancialStatementsExplanatory (non-mandatory element)
    • ifrs-full:DisclosureOfQualitativeInformationAboutApplicationOfClassificationOverlayAndImpairmentRequirementsExplanatory (non-mandatory element)
    • ifrs-full:DisclosureOfMaterialAccountingPolicyInformationExplanatory (mandatory element)

As mentioned above, there is nothing you need to do. All changes and evaluations have already been done for you and you can already now convert a draft of your 2023 report to produce an ESEF 2022 file to share with your auditor or eventually test with your local financial authority.

In case you want to update your current Excel template to its latest version, find the instructions and the master file here.  Otherwise, if you have any further questions or concerns, please reach out to us here.
