Error explanation
This type of error comes from an issue in your TextSearch setup.
Case A:
Error message structure: The label "xxxx" was not found in "Notes".
This issue is caused by a faulty element label in the Notes tab in your Excel file. Please make sure to use the official English label, found in the ESEF Tags tab in your Excel file.
Case B:
Error message structure: Disclosure of xxx / Description of xxx: xxx cannot be found in Note x.
This issue comes from a mismatch between the information in the Excel file (in the Notes sheet) and the content of the PDF/EPUB file. We recommend that you take each error message one at a time, starting from the top.
Here are the most common types of mismatches:
- Typo in Column F
E.g. Disclosure of general information about financial statements: "1. Nature of opperations*<<3. New or revised Standards or Interpretations" cannot be found IN "All notes" - Mismatch between the text in Column F and the Area (note number)
E.g. Description of accounting policy for functional currency: "Functional and presentation*<<Foreign currency transactions and balances" cannot be found IN "Note 4.7" - Duplicate element in the same Note
E.g. Description of accounting policy for expenses: "*" cannot be found IN "Note 4.8"
Note: this Conversion Error also triggers:- [ESEF.RTS.Annex.III.Par.1.invalidInlineXBRL] RTS on ESEF requires valid XBRL instances
- [ix11.4.1.2:continuationMissing] Inline XBRL continuation s7_notes__6__31-1 not found
- Typo in Column D
E.g. Description of accounting policy for intangible assets other than goodwill: "*" cannot be found IN "Note4.12"
Note: this Conversion Error also triggers:- [ESEF.RTS.Annex.III.Par.1.invalidInlineXBRL] RTS on ESEF requires valid XBRL instances

How to solve it
Case A:
Make sure that the element labels in Column A in the Notes sheet of your Excel file are the official English labels. We recommend that you copy-paste (as values) directly from the ESEF tags sheet.
Here are examples of common mistakes:
Incorrect: Disclosure of notes and other explanatory information [text block]
Incorrect: Disclosure of notes and other explanatory information explanatory
Incorrect: DisclosureOfNotesAndOtherExplanatoryInformationExplanatory
Correct: Disclosure of notes and other explanatory information
Case B:
Find the element causing the error in the Notes sheet of your Excel file, and check the set up:
1. Typo in Column F
Check the value in column F for mistakes - the text there needs to match the text in the PDF/EPUB 100%.
In the example below, there is a typo in column F. Removing the extra “p” will fix the issue.
2. Mismatch between the text in Column F and the Area (note number)
Check that the correct Area was chosen in column D.
In the example below, the passage specified here is actually in a different Area (Note 4.5 rather than Note 4.7). Amending Column D will fix the issue.
3. Duplicate element in the same Note
Check if this row is not duplicated in the Excel file. If it is duplicated, removing one of them will make the error disappear.
In the example below, the same element “Description of accounting policy for expenses” is located twice in the same area in the Notes sheet. Removing the second instance will fix the issue.
4. Typo in Column D
Check if there is no spelling error in the Area specified in Column D.
In the example below, the space between “Note” and “4.12” is missing.
