Error Message: ESEF.3.1.1.extensionTaxonomyWrongFilesStructure

Last reviewed: 20/9-2024.

Guidance 3.1.1 regards the required components of extension taxonomies and reference to the taxonomy files prepared by ESMA.

In accordance with the RTS on ESEF any extension taxonomy must contain the following structures:

  • Presentation and calculation linkbase, which group the elements and express
    arithmetic relationships between the used elements;
  • Label linkbase, which describes the meaning of each applied element;
  • Definition linkbase, which ensures dimensional validity of the resulting XBRL
    instance document against the taxonomy and stores anchoring relationships.

If you experience this error message, it means that one of the structures cannot be found within your ESEF package. This will often be due to a renaming of your zip file. If the file name has been changed from its original name, XBRL readers may experience issues locating certain elements within the package.

If this is the issue, all you need to do is to change the file name back to the name given by the ParsePort platform and make sure that any versioning such as (1) at the end of the name is deleted. Please see screenshot below where you can see the extra sign incorrectly placed at the end of the file name.

If this approach doesn't work, we recommend that you reach out to our support team via support@parseport.com and include the files in question as well a description of the issue in the email.
