Wrong scale for dividends

There are no error or warning messages in this case. 

• Explanation

There is usually only one scale for all numeric values included in one report. However in some cases dividends disclosed in the Notes section have a different scale from the rest of the values in the Primary Financial Statements. This article explains how to override the scale for dividends.

• How to solve it

 

1. Open the Excel file and go to the General Data tab to check the scale of your report

2. Confirm that your dividends require a different scale, and find which one below:

• 0 = whole amounts
• 3 = amount in thousands
• 6 = amount in millions
• 9 = amount in billions

3. Go to the Notes sheet, and find the element related to dividends that you want to adjust (usually Dividends proposed or declared before financial statements authorised for issue but not recognised as distribution to owners)

4. Add the following note to the label in column A (Right-click > New note):

[scale=x]

Where “x” is the number of the scale you would like to use

Note: you will also need to delete your Name if it appears automatically in the note

In this example, we want the dividends to be in millions

5. Save the Excel file, and upload it together with your PDF/EPUB report in the ParsePort Platform

6. Confirm that the correct scale has been applied via the Facts tab or the Viewer tab
